Recently, Sinopec Jianghan Oilfield deployed the shale gas pre-exploration well Hongye 2HF in the Hongxing area of Lichuan, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province. It has been trial production for 20 consecutive days, and the daily shale gas production has remained stable. This is another shale gas exploration well deployed in the area with stable production, further confirming the exploration potential of the area. At present, Jianghan Oilfield has submitted the first batch of shale gas predicted reserves in the region of 105.103 billion cubic meters, which is equivalent to more than 100 million tons of crude oil.
Guo Zhanfeng, Manager of the Oilfield Exploration Management Department, said that the successful completion of the test production of Well Hongye 1HF has filled the gap in the exploration and development of Permian shale gas in China. The continuously deployed Well Hongye 2HF and Well Hongye 3HF encountered good oil and gas shows, marking a major breakthrough in shale gas exploration in this area.
In the Hongxing area of Lichuan, there are many problems such as deep shale buried depth and complex in-situ stress. The technical requirements are high, and the exploration and development are difficult. In December 2020, Jianghan Oilfield overcame technical difficulties, and the subordinate Hongye 1HF well produced 89,000 cubic meters of gas per day, filling the gap in the exploration and development of Permian shale gas in my country. At present, the well has accumulated gas production of over 20 million cubic meters, making it the shale gas well with the highest cumulative gas production in Hubei Province. Following the breakthrough of Hongye 1HF well, Jianghan Oilfield has successively deployed shale gas pre-exploration wells such as Hongye 2HF and Hongye 3HF. At present, the shale gas production of Well Hongye 2HF is stable, and the effect is better than that of Well Hongye 1HF, which further shows the good prospect of exploration and development in this area.
According to Sun Jianfa, Secretary of the Party Committee and Senior Engineer of the First Gas Production Plant of Jianghan Oilfield, the first batch of shale gas in the Permian in the Hongxing area is predicted to have a gas storage area of more than 300 square kilometers. The local shale gas storage area far exceeds this area. It is estimated that the shale gas resources buried within 4,500 meters in this area are more than 400 billion cubic meters, which has broad commercial development prospects.
China is rich in shale gas resources, with huge resource potential and exploration and development prospects. The realization of its scale-effective development is of great strategic significance to ensure national energy security. In recent years, Sinopec has continued to increase its shale gas exploration and development efforts. In 2017, China's first large-scale shale gas field of 10 billion cubic meters, the Fuling Shale Gas Field, was built. So far, the gas field has produced over 40 billion cubic meters of gas, with a cumulative proven reserves of nearly 900 billion cubic meters, accounting for the largest proportion of proven shale gas in China. 34% of reserves. In 2018, China's first deep shale gas field, the Weirong shale gas field, was discovered, and the annual production capacity of 1 billion cubic meters will be built in 2020. In 2021, the key ultra-deep exploration well deployed in Chongqing, Well Dongye Shen 2, will produce 412,000 cubic meters of shale gas per day in a gas layer with a buried depth of 4,300 meters, marking China's exploration of deep shale gas with a buried depth of more than 4,000 meters. Significant new progress has been made in the field.
Shale gas refers to unconventional natural gas existing in organic-rich mud shale and its interlayers in an adsorbed or free state. The main component is methane. It is a clean and efficient energy resource and chemical raw material. It is widely used in residential gas, urban heating, power generation, automobile fuel and chemical production.
In addition, Sinopec has also achieved a number of breakthroughs in the field of shale oil exploration and development. In November 2021, Sinopec Shengli Oilfield made significant progress in the exploration and development of shale oil in the eastern exploration area, reporting the first batch of predicted shale oil geological reserves of 458 million tons, and preliminary estimates of shale oil resources in the area reaching more than 4 billion tons. In December 2021, another strategic breakthrough was made in shale oil exploration, and a favorable area of 420 square kilometers and a shale oil resource of 350 million tons were implemented in the Qintong sag of the North Jiangsu Basin.
