On May 24, 2022, a train loaded with 24 complete sets of new energy vehicles left Liuzhou Southern Logistics Center and was transported to Jakarta, Indonesia via Qinzhou Port. This is the first time that Guangxi's new energy vehicles have been exported overseas by train, marking the addition of new categories of goods exported from the new western land-sea channel. According to reports, Liuzhou is the largest industrial city in Guangxi, a national auto parts production base, a national auto parts export base and a national auto industry demonstration base. It is understood that in the past, Guangxi's new energy vehicles were mainly exported overseas by road and sea.
In order to further expand the automobile sales market in Southeast Asia and meet the growing demand for new energy vehicles, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. is trying to increase rail-sea combined transportation to ensure the stability of the supply chain in Southeast Asia. According to Liu Jingwei, manufacturing engineering director of SAIC-GM-Wuling's overseas business and engineering center, SAIC-GM-Wuling will export 58,000 vehicles from January to April 2022, a year-on-year increase of 28%, with global vehicles Baojun 530 and Baojun 510 as the main sales products.
By the end of 2021, the company had received inquiries from more than 200 institutions in more than 70 countries for importing new energy vehicles. The export of the rail-sea intermodal train through the new western land-sea channel will help China's new energy vehicles go overseas more conveniently. It is understood that this new energy vehicle special train, the sea-rail intermodal train, departs from Liuzhou to Qinzhou Port and goes directly to Jakarta, realizing the seamless connection of the sea-rail intermodal trains, saving about 7 days of time compared with traditional transportation methods.
Tang Guide, director of the Liuzhou Freight Center of China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the railway department tailors the transportation plan according to the needs of the enterprise. It is expected that this batch of goods will arrive in Jakarta, Indonesia in about 20 days, helping "Made in Guangxi" go abroad. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the train, China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group Co., Ltd. and other enterprises jointly organized a tailor-made transportation plan throughout the process, and assigned special personnel to monitor the entire process of container train loading to ensure the safe and rapid shipment of goods.
In view of the current situation of intensive arrivals and busy ship unloading at Qinzhou Port East Station, railways, ports and customs are working together to continuously optimize the unloading organization plan, open up a green channel for new energy vehicle trains, and ensure efficient loading and export of trains. Huang Jian, Counselor of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that at present, Liugong loaders and Wuling Hongguang cars in Guangxi have been transported north to Moscow, Russia, Almaty, Kazakhstan, and south to Indonesia and other countries through China-Europe trains.
The new western land-sea corridor has not only construction machinery, complete vehicles, auto parts, rails for railway transportation, but also computer parts, realizing the high-quality development and trade of goods, which is of positive significance to Guangxi's foreign trade and investment. Since 2017, the first rail-sea intermodal train of the new western land-sea channel will depart from Qinzhou Port East Station. At present, 7 lines including Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Henan, Guidong and Guibei have been opened, realizing the seamless connection between Chongqing and China-Europe freight trains.
