The 12th Meeting of Transport Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States was held in Tianjin on July 2 under the theme "Promoting the 'Shanghai Spirit' and Promoting Sustainable Transport Cooperation". The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Transport Authorities of the SCO Member States on Cooperation on Silk Road Stations and the Minutes of the 12th Meeting of the Transport Ministers of the SCO Member States were adopted and signed, which will further strengthen regional cooperation in connectivity.
Liu Wei, Minister of Transport, said that China proposes that the SCO parties cooperate in the construction of a "Silk Road Station" to provide necessary services such as parking and hot water supply for drivers engaged in international road transport in the region.
At present, international road transport cooperation between China and the SCO member states is getting closer and closer, and cross-border passenger and freight transportation is growing. At the same time, the lack of service facilities such as rest stations, supply stations, and maintenance stations along the line has become increasingly prominent, and the risk of fatigue driving for international truck drivers has increased, and the transportation efficiency has been low.
Chen Xingsen, Director of the Asia-Pacific Affairs Division of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Transport, introduced that the "Silk Road Station" helps to reduce the risk of fatigue driving of the driver group, ensures driving safety, and can meet the basic demands of the driver group of "eating a hot meal, drinking hot water, taking a hot shower, and sleeping peacefully", reflecting the humanistic care for this group.
At the same time, during the construction of the Silk Road Station, it will integrate local cultural characteristics, become a window to showcase the achievements of transport development and the spirit of friendship and cooperation of the SCO countries, and promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between the SCO member states.
Heads of transportation authorities from Pakistan, Mongolia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries attended the meeting. At the meeting, the heads of the transport authorities of various countries also exchanged in-depth views on cooperation in the field of transportation, such as accelerating the construction of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, accelerating the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway and the third China-Kazakhstan railway corridor, continuing to promote the high-quality development of China-Europe freight trains, actively building multimodal transport corridors and logistics centers, and promoting the electronic use of international road transport driving permits.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
