Tata Power Renewables, the renewable energy sector of Tata Power, will establish a 255 MW capacity hybrid (wind and solar) power project in Karnataka.
TPREL won the project after Tata Power Delhi Distribution Co., Ltd. (a joint venture between Tata Power and Delhi NCT government) received a letter of award through an electronic reverse auction. The above projects will be put into use within two years from the date of signing the power purchase agreement. According to the letter, the project will consider 85 MW of solar energy and 170 MW of wind power generation capacity, and will provide green shoe options for the other 85 MW and 170 MW of solar energy and wind energy, respectively. Tata Power DDL will provide the power generated by the project. The company is currently the power supplier of more than 7 million people in North Delhi. With this wind solar project joining its portfolio, TPREL's cumulative renewable energy capacity will reach 6048 megawatts. The total installed capacity is 3884 MW, including 2956 MW for solar energy and 920 MW for wind energy. The company has 2164 MW in operation.

In 2022, Tata Power DDL achieved 100% RPO compliance for the second consecutive year. In order to fulfill its renewable energy purchase obligations in the fiscal year 2021-2022, the company purchased 2.2 billion units (MU) of green electricity from renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, water power, waste to energy and large-scale water power.
In July 2022, TP Saurya, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, won a letter of award from the Indian Solar Corporation in recognition of its establishment of a 600 MW hybrid power generation project in Karnataka, which was awarded through electronic reverse auction.Editor/Xing Wentao
