According to reports, the Longquan-Tianfu Airport Line is an urban (suburban) rail transit line, which is a line in the "Multi-level Rail Transit Planning for the Twin-City Economic Circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing Area". According to the "Chengdu City 14th Five-Year Urban Construction Plan", the line is drawn from Long'an Station of Metro Line 13, passing through Longquanyi, Jianzhou New City, Airport New City to Tianfu International Airport; the line is about 51 kilometers long and has a total of 12 stations. The construction period is 5 years; the total investment is 20.6 billion yuan.

This line will become the third rail transit line leading to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the other two being Line 18 and Phase II of Line 19. Among them, Line 18 has been put into operation, and the second phase of Line 19 is an important rail transit line connecting Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. The line is mainly laid along Xihangang Avenue, Shuanghua Road, Ningbo Road and Dongshan Avenue. It runs from northwest to southeast, with a total length of about 43.17 kilometers. There are 12 stations in total, including 10 transfer stations, all of which are underground.

After the opening of the second phase of Line 19, it will create conditions for the integrated operation mode of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, and expand the core area of Sichuan Tianfu New District to Shuangliu and Wenjiang, which is of great significance for Chengdu to build an international comprehensive transportation hub .
