Seven agreements were reportedly signed with Germany following a three-day visit to Berlin by a senior Saudi delegation. The agreement covers enhanced cooperation in the fields of chemicals, waste management, renewable energy, engineering, advanced industry, automotive and technology.
The delegation, led by Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih, participated in events and bilateral contacts in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Hannover. The German delegation, led by German State Secretary Udo Philipp, included several government entities as well as leading companies.
The agreements, signed in Berlin during the Kingdom's participation in the German-Saudi Investment Forum, include two agreements in the chemical industry between Almobda Company for Industrial Service and Chemicals and thyssenkrupp Uhde Engineering Services. Saudi Investments, Saudi Chemical Holdings and Hellman in their chemicals transactions;Waste Management Investments and HTCycle; MISA and Wilo Group will drive innovative solutions in the water sector.
In addition, Advanced Systems and Technologies and ecoro have also signed an agreement in the field of technology. Featuring panel sessions exploring private sector partnership opportunities. Participants watched recommendations from Saudi officials on investing in Saudi and global supply chain resilience and a presentation by the Center for National Privatization and Public-Private Partnerships. Samar Nassar, Managing Director of Healthcare at MISA, participated in a panel session on "How to Scale Innovation in Healthcare," which explored collaboration opportunities between Saudi and German healthcare innovators, including through R&D and digital healthcare partnerships.
Al-Falih also attended ITB Berlin, one of the world's largest travel trade shows, and met with hotel investors to explore the investment potential of leisure travel. The Saudi delegation's visit to Germany followed German Chancellor Olaf Schulz's visit to the Kingdom in September, followed by a German delegation's visit to Riyadh in November to look for opportunities to expand cooperation. The relationship between the two countries with the largest economies in their respective regions will also continue to strengthen as several German companies continue to increase their presence in Saudi Arabia. The investment minister's visit to Germany is the latest in a series of high-level international visits to boost mutual investment.
The delegation will also visit France, Austria and Cyprus this week to take part in a series of bilateral events.Editor/Xiang Jingwen
