Recently, the Guanghanping pumped storage power station project in Youxian County was signed, and construction is expected to start within this year. The total investment of the project is 11.975 billion yuan. After completion, it will make up for the shortcomings of Hunan Power Grid in eastern Hunan.

The project consists of five parts: upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water delivery system, underground powerhouse and ground switch station, with an estimated total construction period of 81 months. The owner is Hunan Youxian Pumped Storage Co., Ltd., which is composed of China Three Gorges Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. holding 90% and China Construction Fifth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. holding 10%.

The Guanghanping Pumped Storage Power Station Project in Youxian County is a key energy construction project in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of Hunan Province, covering an area of 3231.6 mu. After completion and production, the total installed capacity will be 1.8 million kilowatts, the annual power generation will be about 2.5 billion kWh, and the annual tax revenue will reach 150 million yuan. The power station will build six single-machine 300,000-kilowatt reversible pump-turbine generator units. After completion, it will improve the regulation capacity of the power system and ease the seasonal peak-shaving pressure of Hunan Power Grid.

After the Guanghanping Pumped Storage Power Station Project in Youxian County officially supplies power, it is expected to save more than 600,000 tons of standard coal per year, correspondingly reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1.4 million tons per year. Editor / Zhao E
