Following the new agreement between Infinite Mining & Energy and the Free Zone, a refinery with a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day will be established with the Hamriya Free Zone Authority in Sharjah. HFZA Director Saud Salim Al Mazrouei and Infinite Mining & Energy FZE Managing Director Bilal Merchant signed the agreement at HFZA headquarters in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

The India-based IME said it would double its investment in the free zone and set up plants with annual refining capacity of up to 3.6m barrels, as well as modern oil storage facilities with more than 20 loading tanks. Under the terms of the agreement, IME will lease a 200,000 square foot plot of land in the Free Zone to build its facilities. The expansion is expected to significantly increase the company's storage capacity to meet the growing demand for its services and products. Al Mazrouei noted that IME's new expansion plans demonstrate HFZA's leading reputation as a preferred investment destination for the heavy industry and petrochemical industries. Al Mazrouei said that as of today, the Free zone is home to more than 1,200 companies, including large international companies specializing in the field.
