Lop Nur Ruoqiang Railway is one of the key projects determined by the state and autonomous region to start construction in 2023. The total length of the project route is 298.8 kilometers, and the estimated total investment of the project is 7.7 billion yuan.

It is reported that this project can make up for the missing sections of the Xinjiang Railway Loop Line, build the Urumqi Hami Ruoqiang Hotan Kashi Urumqi Inner Ring Line Railway, and connect with the Lanzhou–Xinjiang railway and Golmud–Korla railway to form a multi-path access to Xinjiang, which plays an important role in promoting economic and social development along the line and enhancing national unity.
