On July 10, 2023, it was learned that recently, Xiamen Municipal Transportation Bureau issued a letter of reply on the handling of proposal No. 20232041 at the Second Meeting of the 14th session of the Municipal CPPCC.

Xiamen Metro has opened three lines with a total length of 98.4 kilometers, and is currently speeding up the construction of Line 3 (south extension section and airport section), Line 4 and Line 6, and is submitting the third round of construction planning to the National Development and Reform Commission for approval.

According to the previous announcement, the third phase of Xiamen urban rail transit construction planning a total of 4 projects, including Line 5 phase I, Line 7 phase I, Line 8 phase I, Line 9 phase II, as well as supporting car depot, parking lot, station, main substation and other related projects, the total scale of about 88km, the scale of the draft for comment, the final subject to the national approval content.

The first phase of Line 5

Line 5 is the eastbound Dejima Composite Express. The first phase of Line 5 starts at the Administrative Service Center station and ends at Huancheng South Road station. The total length of the line is 35km, and it is fully underground, with 18 stations, including 9 transfer stations, one Ou Cuo depot and one Hongtang parking lot.

The first phase of Line 7

Line 7 is the track line connecting the island with Xiang 'an. The first phase of Line 7 starts at Zengcuo Station and ends at Takasaki Junction Station, with a total length of 17km, all underground, with 13 stations, including 7 interchange stations, and a Takasaki vehicle base (shared with Line 9).

The first phase of Line 8

Line 8 is the westbound Dejima Composite Express. The first phase of Line 8 starts at Haicang Sports Center station and ends at Wanda Plaza Station. The total length of the line is 18km, and it is laid underground, with 10 stations, including 8 transfer stations and one Mu Cuo Depot. Line 9 is the northbound Outbound Composite Express. The second phase of Line 9 starts at the Convention Center station and ends at the Kyageng Stadium Station (not included), with a total length of 18km, fully underground, with 11 stations, including 6 interchange stations, and a Takasaki vehicle base (shared with Line 7).
