From July 12 to 13, 2023, the review meeting of the pre feasibility study report of Tianhu Pumped-storage hydroelectricity in Lianzhou, Guangdong was held in Qingyuan City.

The power station is located in Xingzi Town and Dalubian Town, Lianzhou City, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, about 210km and 150km respectively from Guangzhou City and Qingyuan. The hub project mainly consists of an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, and an underground water transmission and power generation system. The upper reservoir utilizes the existing Tanling Reservoir; The groundwater reservoir is located downstream of the Tanling Reservoir dam site. Tianhu Pumped-storage hydroelectricity is a key implementation project in the "16th Five Year Plan" of the Medium and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035). The installed capacity of the power station is 2400MW, with a rated head of 455m and a distance to height ratio of 5.65.
