The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. In the past decade, China and countries along the Belt and Road have achieved common prosperity. In 1963, China sent the first medical team to help Algeria rebuild its medical and health system after the war. Over the past six decades, China has sent 3,522 medical personnel to Afghanistan in 27 batches, treated more than 27 million patients and delivered more than 2.07 million newborns. Today, in Algeria, especially in the Sahara Desert and its surrounding provinces, medical resources are still in short supply, and Chinese medical team members rooted in the region are still playing an indispensable role.
