On August 18, 2023, the bidding announcement for the construction of the expansion and renovation project of the Xinjiang section of the Golmud Korla Railway was released. The project will officially commence construction in September, with a planned duration of 1.5 years.

Project Overview

Construction location: Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Construction scale: 28 reserved interchange stations will be added within the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of the Gekku Railway, including Akataneng, Wanga, North of Altyn Mountains, Luotuoquan, Qimianfeng, Wangta, Hongwei, Loulan Country, Kurukasayi, Milano East, Ruoqiang North, Xianfeng, Taitema Lake, Lobzhuang, Kurgan, Akqik, Satugan, Tugemailai, Yingsu, Zakursu, Daxihaizi, Tongusba, Maowax Lake, Chala, etc Qunkel, Jonkul, Sinier, Sinier North.

Supporting project in the Korla region: Build a new Tuku to Geku freight train connecting line, with a total length of 9.297km per track, including 1.381km of the up line and 7.916km of the down line. Reconstruct the Geku up line by 0.438km, with a total length of 9.735km. Reconstruct the Korla Station and the East Korla Station; Traction power supply and power supporting engineering, as well as production and living facilities reinforcement supporting engineering.

Main technical standards: Railway grade: Grade I; Number of main lines: single line; Minimum curve radius: generally 1200m, difficult 800m; Restricted slope: 6 ‰, with a double lane speed of 16 ‰ for the section from Mangya Lake to Milan; Electric traction; Automatic interstation blocking.

The scope of this bidding is for the construction of all projects within the design scope of the expansion and renovation project of the Xinjiang section of the Golmud Korla Railway. The starting and ending mileage is K499+081.22~South Xinjiang Line K456+896, with a total length of 708.1km. It covers all projects within the scope of construction drawing design.

This bidding is divided into 6 sections:

S1 section in front of the station: K499+081.22~K741+266, with a total length of 242.18km;

S2 section in front of the station: K741+266~K976+920, with a total length of 235.65km;

S3 section in front of the station: K976+920~South Xinjiang Line K456+896, with a total length of 230.26km;

SLLX section of the connecting line: New Tuku to Geku freight train connecting line

Strong current SQD section: K499+081.22~South Xinjiang Line K456+896, with a total length of 708.1km;
