In the beautiful season of spring and the revival of all things, Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province welcomed an important cooperation signing and power grid project commencement ceremony. On February 20, 2024, the Xi'an Municipal Government of Shaanxi Province and State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for a deepening cooperation framework agreement and a concentrated commencement ceremony for the 2024 power grid project. Mayor Ye Niuping witnessed the signing and announced the start of construction.

The concentrated commencement of this power grid project is a specific measure to continuously deepen and expand the "Three Years" activities, and to promote the key work of the "Eight New Breakthroughs" in the city. It is a practical action to promote the construction of the power grid to a new level, and will help Xi'an effectively improve people's livelihoods, develop industries, and enhance urban energy levels. It will inject new momentum into economic and social development and build a solid foundation for the safe operation of the city.

Ye Niuping emphasized that with the rapid growth of urban population, accelerated development of technological innovation and advanced manufacturing, and optimization of urban spatial layout, the contradiction between power operation guarantee and urban development needs is becoming increasingly prominent. We need to promote the deep integration of urban land spatial planning and power grid planning, scientifically plan a new round of power grid construction plans, formulate management measures for power investment and construction as soon as possible, further standardize the work processes of power grid project planning, site selection, corridor layout, environmental evaluation and approval, and strive to promote safe and reliable power supply, effectively reduce electricity costs, and continuously meet the electricity needs of citizens for a better life and the high-quality development of the economy and society. The relevant departments at the municipal level should strengthen overall coordination, continuously optimize and improve project layout and implementation plans, standardize and innovate project investment and construction models. Each district, county, and development zone should strengthen their territorial responsibilities and ensure the construction environment of power grid projects. State Grid Power Supply Company needs to continuously optimize processes, allocate construction resources, and ensure that planned projects start and construction projects are completed early.

In the past two years, Xi'an has made significant achievements in power grid construction, with a total investment of 11.8 billion yuan and the successful construction of 44 substations. These efforts have increased the maximum power supply capacity of the city from 9 million kilowatts to 14 million kilowatts, providing more stable electricity support for citizens and economic development.Editor/Zhao E
