Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, as the green heart of Africa, has once again become the focus of global environmental protection. On February 26, the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly opened here, bringing together environmental leaders, experts, scholars and representatives of non-governmental organizations to discuss how to address global environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution. This conference is not only another important boost to the global environmental protection cause, but also an important opportunity for all countries to jointly seek a green development path.

The central theme of this year's conference is how to use the power of multilateralism to address these pressing environmental issues. In this context, Erik Solheim, former executive director of the United Nations Environment Program and co-chairman of the Belt and Road International Institute for Green Development, accepted an exclusive interview with reporters. He thoroughly interpreted and evaluated the contribution of the Belt and Road Initiative in the global green and low-carbon transformation, stressing the importance of the initiative in promoting global sustainable development cooperation.

Erik Solheim said that in the context of the current global environmental crisis, the Belt and Road Initiative, with its unique perspective and comprehensive planning, provides a cooperation platform for countries to achieve sustainable development. By promoting the transfer and cooperation of green technologies, strengthening environmental protection measures, and promoting the development of clean energy and low-carbon economy, the Belt and Road Initiative is providing a strong impetus for the global green and low-carbon transition.

With the in-depth progress of the conference, representatives of various countries will discuss the global environmental protection plan and explore how to promote the global green and low-carbon transformation with the power of multilateralism. We have every reason to believe that with the efforts of all parties, including the Belt and Road Initiative, mankind will eventually move towards a greener, low-carbon and sustainable future.
