Shandong Port Group held a grand unveiling ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 1, 2024, officially announcing the establishment of the West Asia Company, attracting nearly 100 representatives from the Gulf region. The event not only marked the further deepening of Shandong Port Group's layout in West Asia, but also injected new impetus to promote international economic and trade cooperation and regional economic development.

Liu Zhengjie, acting Consul General of China in Dubai, pointed out that currently China-Arab relations are at the best stage in history, with strong industrial complementarity, highly consistent development needs and huge potential for cooperation between the two countries. The establishment of Shandong Port West Asia Co., Ltd. will play a positive role in deepening economic and trade cooperation between the two sides. The Chinese Consulate General in Dubai will, as always, play the role of a bridge and link, provide strong support for the cooperation and economic and trade exchanges between enterprises of the two sides, and jointly push forward the development of China-Arab relations.

Abitsam Ahmed Al-Kabi, Vice president of Dubai Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone, stressed that the two countries, based on the principle of mutual respect and trust, jointly pursue prosperity and progress in economic and social development. He expressed his keen expectation for strengthening cooperation with China and hoped the two sides could work together to make positive contributions to maintaining free trade and sustainable development.

Yang Xue, representative of Shandong Provincial Government's Economic and Trade Representative Office in West Asia and Africa, expressed his expectation for further deepening cooperation between China and Arab countries in port construction, operation management and port industry, and hoped that such cooperation could promote higher levels of connectivity and jointly create a more prosperous future.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
