Recently, the construction land for the Hangzhou section south of Haining Guanchao Station of the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport Station Hub and Connection Project of the railway has been approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources, indicating that the project is about to enter the comprehensive construction phase.

The Hangzhou Airport High Speed Rail and Connection Project has a total length of 85 kilometers, passing through Tongxiang City and Haining City in Jiaxing, Qiantang District, Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou, and Keqiao District in Shaoxing. The entire line has newly established Haining Guanchao Station, Qiantang Station, and Xiaoshan Airport Station, expanded Tongxiang Station, and connected to Shaoxing North Station.

The project has been included in the "Development Plan for Higher Quality Integrated Transportation in the Yangtze River Delta Region" and is an important component of the Hangzhou Shaoxing Taiwan Railway and the Shanghai Zha Hangzhou Railway. It is an important project to achieve high-speed rail access to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and build an air rail intermodal transportation system.

The bidding work for the project was completed in March 2023 and the construction unit was officially determined. The original plan was to complete and open to traffic in 2027. The section from Tongxiang to Haining Guanchao Station will be delayed in construction due to the impact of the simultaneous implementation of Tongxiang Station by the Shanghai Zhahang Railway.

According to the project plan, efforts will be made to achieve full land delivery in March, ensuring substantial construction of the entire railway line by the end of March.

After the completion of the project, it will effectively alleviate the congestion problem of the north-south cross river channel, which is of great significance for creating a new round of railway hub layout for Hangzhou's one axis and two wings cross river channel, and enhancing the regional hub status and capacity.Editor/Zhao E
