On March 20th, Unit 13 of the Hebei Baoding Thermal Power Project, built by China Energy Construction Tianjin Electric Power Construction, was successfully connected to the grid. The unit has excellent performance in various parameters, with stable and reliable operation of the main and auxiliary equipment, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming 168 hour trial operation.

The core 2 × 350 MW thermal power unit project of the expansion project of Hebei Baoding Thermal Power Plant is a key livelihood project in Baoding City, aiming to address the challenges of air pollution prevention and control and address the gap in heating demand. This project has introduced two domestically produced coal-fired supercritical primary reheat steam extraction heating units, using advanced low-pressure cylinder zero output technology to ensure the forefront of technology and the excellence of indicators. After the completion of the project, it is expected that the annual power generation will reach 3.5 billion kilowatt hours, while achieving an industrial steam extraction capacity of 240 tons per hour and a heating capacity of 722 megawatts, which can meet the heating demand of 16.04 million square meters. This will have a positive and far-reaching impact on alleviating the winter heating pressure in Baoding City, promoting local economic and social development, and helping to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

The manufacturer of the 13th steam turbine unit is Harbin Steam Turbine Factory Co., Ltd. It adopts supercritical, primary intermediate reheat, single shaft, three cylinder two exhaust, extraction condensing, and low-pressure cylinder zero output heating units. The rated heating and extraction capacity of the steam turbine is 400t/h, the zero output heating and extraction capacity of the low-pressure cylinder is 622.66t/h, and the extraction pressure is 0.4MPa. The high and medium pressure cylinders are supplied as a whole.

Two 350MW coal-fired generators can be connected together to form a power generation system, which can transmit the electricity generated during each generation to the grid, thereby improving the power generation efficiency of the entire power generation system. This integrated scheduling approach further optimizes energy consumption efficiency, making energy utilization more efficient. Grid connection helps reduce energy waste. Under traditional power generation methods, if distributed power generation equipment is not connected to the grid for power generation, a lot of electricity will be unusable and wasted. After being connected to the grid, Unit 13 of Datang Baoding Thermal Power Plant can not only generate electricity efficiently, but also fully utilize excess electricity. Grid connection is of great significance for the utilization of renewable energy. Although the unit here is a coal-fired generator, grid connection technology is also applicable to renewable energy projects. Taking solar photovoltaic power generation as an example, the collected light energy is directly converted into electricity, and after grid connection, energy can be obtained from the grid in the absence of sunlight, ensuring the continuity of electrical energy.
