The China Malaysia Friendship Bridge, as a cross sea bridge connecting the Maldivian capital Male, Airport Island, and Hulumale Island, has become an important transportation infrastructure in Maldives since its construction began in March 2016 and was completed and opened to traffic on August 30, 2018. The team of China Communications Second Navigation Bureau overcame a series of global challenges such as complex coral reef geology, deep-water long-period waves, high temperature, high salinity, and high corrosiveness during the construction process, and successfully achieved the bridge dream of the Maldivian people. The implementation of this follow-up maintenance technical assistance project will further consolidate and improve the performance of the China Malaysia Friendship Bridge, providing strong support for the economic and social development of Maldives.
