Saudi International Power and Water Company has successfully completed the $580 million refinancing work for the Al Dur 2 independent seawater desalination and power plant project in Bahrain.

The project has a total installed capacity of 1.5GW of power generation and adopts advanced seawater desalination reverse osmosis membrane technology, which can produce up to 227000 cubic meters of desalination water per day. ACWA Power has always been committed to providing clean electricity and water resources to millions of people at reasonable costs, actively supporting Bahrain's sustainable development strategy for infrastructure, and contributing to the local economic prosperity and social progress.

This project has attracted active participation from multiple financing institutions, including the Bank of Arab States and Standard Chartered Bank, fully demonstrating its strong market appeal and good cooperation prospects. During this process, ACWA Power played an important role as the sole financial advisor, providing strong support for the project's refinancing with its rich experience and professional knowledge. It is worth mentioning that the Al Dur 2 project successfully completed its financing closure in July 2019, thanks to a total project loan of 1.05 billion US dollars provided by Saudi domestic banks, regional banks, and international banks, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project. In 2020, the company completed approximately $370 million in refinancing, introducing mezzanine loans, which was the first refinancing during the construction period in the history of project financing in the entire GCC region, Middle East and North Africa region. The project was put into commercial operation in June 2022. (This article is from the official website of Jiandao: www.seetao. com.
