On April 15, 2024, the city launched a large-scale heating facility renovation project. Among them, 31.1 kilometers of primary pipeline network have been updated and renovated, 350 kilometers of secondary pipeline network have been renovated, and 40 heat exchange stations have been updated. Other related projects will also start one after another in May to ensure that they are all completed before the end of September to prepare for the upcoming winter heating.

In order to ensure the safety and stability of heating, Hohhot has taken a series of measures. First, a thermoelectric + emergency heat source system was constructed. The implementation of the Datang Tuo electric heat source project and the Jinshan Phase II heat source project have significantly enhanced the city's heating capacity. At the same time, in order to cope with possible extreme weather, some coal-fired heating boilers in urban areas have been replaced with clean heat sources and retained as emergency peak-shaving heat sources, providing a strong guarantee for heating in extremely cold weather.

Secondly, Hohhot City is also committed to building a multi-source and one-network heating pipe network. While building the urban east ring network, a large number of old heating pipe networks were renovated, the four major heat sources were interconnected, and the heating ring network was upgraded from type C to type O. This not only improves heating efficiency, but also enhances the stability and reliability of the heating system. In addition, a series of problems in the heating process have been solved and the quality of heating has been improved by upgrading and transforming old secondary heating pipe networks, heat exchange stations and pipe network large series communities, as well as implementing building energy-saving renovations.

Finally, in order to improve the intelligent level of heating management, Hohhot City is building a smart management heating system. By building a city-wide smart heating management platform and installing metering and flow control valves and temperature sensors, real-time monitoring and intelligent deployment of the heating system are achieved.
