On April 26, 2024, the commencement of the 2 million kW wind power project of Haixi Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, which was mainly undertaken by the State Power Investment Yellow River Company, was held in Lenghu Town, Manya City, Haixi Autonomous Prefecture.

Yu Miao said that the project is an important step in the development strategy of Yellow River Company, and it is also a strong guarantee for promoting the energy revolution and building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system. We will speed up the compliance procedures of the early stage of the project, formulate a milestone schedule, strengthen the management of the whole process of the project construction, and effectively improve the quality of the project. With the investment management concept of "deep early stage, strict start, fine construction, and excellent production", we will fully promote the smooth completion and operation of the project, help Qinghai build a national clean energy industry highland, and strive to promote the high-quality landing of the national power investment "First-class Strategy 2035".

The project is located in the west of Lenghu Town, Manya City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, about 105 kilometers, the Yellow River company is responsible for the first phase of 500,000 kW wind power project installed a total of 80 6,250 kW wind turbines and corresponding box transformers, equipped with 10% of the total installed capacity, a two-hour electrochemical energy storage system, planned to be completed and put into operation before the end of this year. After the completion of the project, the average annual power generation is about 940.5 million KWH, which is equivalent to saving about 292,500 tons of standard coal and reducing about 775,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year.

According to Wang Lun, secretary of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of the new Energy construction Branch of Yellow River Company, which is responsible for the project construction, the project will effectively increase the proportion of project night output and the overall power quality by configuring the electrochemical energy storage system and improving the optimization control strategy, and effectively play the support and guarantee role of wind power based on night output on energy security. Help solve the problem of "night power shortage" in Qinghai Province's power system, and solidly promote the province's energy and power to achieve high-quality transformation practice. Rooted in Qinghai Plateau for more than 20 years, Yellow River Company has always adhered to green development and innovation-driven, with a total installed power capacity of 30.5329 million kilowatts, new energy installed capacity of 15.970,500 kilowatts, and clean energy accounting for 91.42%, helping Haixi and Hainan of Qinghai to fully build two 10-million-kilowatt renewable energy bases.
