According to the news on May 8, 2024, Shanxi Yuanqu Phase II pumped storage power station project has started construction. The plant, which is dedicated to the development of clean energy, is expected to achieve significant environmental benefits and energy optimization effects when it is fully operational.

Yuanqu County, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, this land is rich in water because of its five first-class tributaries of the Yellow River. Located on the Banjian River in Jieyu Township, Yuanqu County, the pumped-storage power station stands out among the 10 pumped-storage projects to be promoted in Shanxi Province in 2022, becoming the first project to be approved. The construction of the power station was funded by China NENG Construction Gezhouba Group, which demonstrates its strength and commitment in clean energy and infrastructure construction.

The plant has an installed capacity of 1200MW and is equipped with four 300MW reversible pump-turbine generators. These advanced units use pumped storage technology, which can make full use of the peak and valley power difference of the grid to generate electricity, ensuring the stability and reliability of the power supply. The project plans to build two reservoirs and connect them through a tunnel to achieve the conversion and utilization of water potential. This innovative technology gives the plant a powerful generating capacity, enabling it to quickly deliver up to 2.4 million kilowatts of power in just five minutes. This not only reflects the high efficiency and flexibility of the power station, but also provides a strong guarantee for the reliability of the power supply.

Tan Hua, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group, stressed that in the construction process of the power station project, the group will uphold the forward-looking planning concept, take technological innovation as the guide, and adhere to the principle of green development.
