On May 12, 2024, the domestic energy development field ushered in an important milestone. Shenfu Gas Field, the country’s first 100 billion cubic meter deep coal seam methane field, announced that its first deep coal seam gas-fired power generation all-electric drive fracturing well pad was located in Xizhai Village, Lanbao Town, Shenmu Construction officially started. This initiative not only marks a major breakthrough in the mining technology of Shenfu Gas Field, but also opens up a new path for high-quality development of deep coalbed methane resources in my country.

This all-electric fracturing demonstration benchmark well platform has reached the domestic leading level in terms of construction scale and construction displacement. The core power of the well platform comes from the domestic modular gas generator set, which provides a stable and efficient energy supply for the electric fracturing equipment. This is also the first time in China that the perfect combination of all-gas power generation and all-electric fracturing construction technology has been achieved.

Chen Guanghui, head of the completion department of the drilling and completion department of CNOOC Shenfu Branch, said that compared with traditional fracturing trains, electric fracturing equipment has shown significant advantages in many aspects. In terms of economy, electric-driven fracturing equipment can use energy more effectively and reduce operating costs; in terms of environmental protection, it uses clean energy to generate electricity, which greatly reduces carbon dioxide emissions; in terms of noise control, electric-driven fracturing equipment operates more efficiently It is stable and reduces noise pollution to the surrounding environment; in terms of stability, electric fracturing equipment is more reliable due to its advanced control system and power structure.

According to preliminary estimates, during the fracturing construction of the well platform alone, approximately 2,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced within two months, which is equivalent to reducing the carbon emissions of 1,000 tons of coal combustion, fully demonstrating its environmental value.

Shenfu Gas Field is located in Shenmu City and Fugu County, on the eastern edge of the Ordos Basin. Its main coal seams are buried deep around 2,000 meters, and the thickness of a single layer ranges from 6 meters to 23 meters. At present, the proven geological reserves of this gas field exceed 110 billion cubic meters, and experts estimate that the recoverable natural gas volume will exceed 30 billion cubic meters, enough to satisfy the residents of a city with a population of one million for hundreds of years.Editor/Cheng Liting
