On May 29, 2024, the 1.5GW PV project general contract II section of Urumqi Midong District 3.5GW PV Project, built by Power China Hebei Engineering Company, was successfully connected to the grid, providing strong support for the transformation of desert resources into green energy in Xinjiang, and contributing significant power construction power to create a beautiful Xinjiang.

The project covers a vast area, with a total area of nearly 200,000 mu and a total installed capacity of up to 3.5GW. Hebei Engineering Company undertook the 1.5GW construction task and planned four 220 kV booster gathering stations. Each station is equipped with a 220 kV transmission line to ensure that the generated green electricity can be stably and efficiently transmitted to the 750 kV substation of Xinjiang State Grid. The successful grid-connection of this project not only shows China's outstanding strength in the field of green energy, but also injects a strong green impetus into the sustainable development of Xinjiang.

After the completion of the 3.5GW project in Midong District, Urumqi, China Green Power is expected to reach an astonishing 6.09 billion KWH of average annual on-grid electricity. Compared with coal-fired power plants of the same size, the project can significantly save about 1.948,800 tons of standard coal per year, while significantly reducing greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions, including 6,071,700 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 1,656,500 tons of soot and 91,350 tons of nitrogen oxides. This significant achievement not only helps the country to achieve the dual requirements of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, but also has a far-reaching positive impact on the optimization and upgrading of the local energy structure and the healthy development of the electricity market.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
