On June 6, 2024, in Dangjiashui Village, Xutao Township, Yongkang Town, Shapotou District, Zhongwei City, Ningxia, the Ningxia Tiandushan 750 kV substation construction project held its first pilot test of the framework foundation, marking the official start of the civil construction of the first 750 kV steel structure new substation in Ningxia. The total investment of the project is over 1.2 billion yuan, covering an area of about 15.5 hectares. It is an important part of the Ningxiang DC sending end AC power grid strengthening project.
According to Tian Wu, project manager of the State Grid Ningxia Construction Branch, the project will build a brand new Tiandushan 750 kV substation and install two sets of 2.1 million kVA main transformers. The substation will have 6 750 kV outgoing lines and 10 330 kV outgoing lines, which are connected to the Yellow River, Baiyin, Shapotou and other places respectively. At the same time, the project will also involve the disconnection and access of the Baiyin-Huanghe I and II 750 kV lines, and the construction of a new line of about 45 kilometers.
State Grid Ningxia Construction Branch said that it will make careful arrangements and deployments, and carefully organize the construction to ensure the smooth realization of the project's safety, quality and progress goals. It is expected that the project will be ready for operation by the end of May 2025.
The commissioning of Ningxia Tiandushan 750 kV transmission and transformation project will meet the needs of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic power generation in Zhongwei, Ningxia, and provide conditions for the access system of the third UHV DC project in Ningxia. In addition, the project will further strengthen the 750 kV main grid structure of Ningxia, help promote the transformation of Ningxia's energy advantages into economic advantages, and contribute to the implementation of the dual carbon goals.
