On the morning of January 13, 2024, the first batch of "road-to-rail" key demonstration projects of the Ministry of Transport and other nine ministries and commissions-Handan International Land Port "Road-to-Rail" Project was fully started. After the project is completed, the Handan International Land Port Park will be directly connected with the coastal ports. By then, Handan International Land Port will become an important node for land-sea transport, east-west connection, and a convenient "sea outlet" for Handan City.

The total investment of the project is 760 million yuan. It is connected to the Handan-Changsha Line on the north side of Handan South Station. It is set as "two yards and three lines", with a track laying mileage of 8.9 kilometers and a transportation mileage of 2.7 kilometers. The new freight yard and yard are 120,000 square meters in total, with a designed annual transportation capacity of 3 million tons. It will be completed and put into operation in January 2025.

Handan International Land Port is the first inland port jointly built by Hebei Port Group Co., Ltd., Handan Municipal Government and Handanshan District Government. It is planned to cover an area of 6,000 mu. At present, it has carried out multimodal transport, container transshipment, import trade, warehousing and processing, yard leasing and park spot trade. It has the ability to operate the China-Europe Express on a regular basis and has served nearly 100 foreign trade companies.

After the completion of the "road to rail" project, Handan International Land Port will become the departure station for the China-Europe Express, enhance the comprehensive service capabilities of foreign trade, and provide a convenient sea-going channel for the source of goods from Handan City and even the southern Hebei region to go to the whole country and the world, which is equivalent to moving the "seaport" to the doorstep. "Liu Tao, general manager of Handan International Land Port Co., Ltd., said that they will use this to build the largest, best-equipped and most fully-functional socialized and internationalized railway logistics hub in southern Hebei, linking with coastal ports to improve logistics efficiency, reduce logistics costs, promote the gathering of logistics enterprises, and create a new highland for Handan City to attract investment and expand opening up.
