On June 14, 2024, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on "Adhering to high-quality development to create a colorful Guizhou with a prosperous economy, rich people and beautiful ecology". Li Bingjun, deputy secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and governor, said at the meeting that with the in-depth implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, especially the opening of the China-Laos Railway and the accelerated construction of the Western Land-Sea Corridor, Guizhou's opening pattern has undergone fundamental changes. Now, from Guizhou to the west, through the China-Laos Railway to Vientiane, Laos, you can reach ASEAN countries; to the north, through the China-Europe Express and the Central Asia Express, you can directly reach Central Asia, North Asia and Europe; to the south, through the Western Land-Sea Corridor and the Guizhou-Guangdong Corridor, you can go to the sea conveniently. It can be said that Guizhou's opening pattern has undergone profound changes, and the conditions for developing an inland open economy are in place.

In the past two years, Guizhou's total import and export volume with the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative has increased by an average of 28.4% per year, and its total import and export volume with ASEAN has increased by an average of 33.8% per year.

Guizhou has concentrated on building the Guiyang International Land Port, moving the functions of coastal ports to the inland, realizing "direct export and direct import", and greatly improving the overall customs clearance efficiency. Guizhou will further improve the functions of the land port, provide enterprises with more convenient "one-stop" services, and build an important international logistics hub in the southwest.

In the next step, Guizhou will continue to promote opening up to the outside world, develop the export industry well, build external channels, platforms, and environment well, and unswervingly go out along the Belt and Road, and make Guizhou's contribution to building a new development pattern.
