On the afternoon of August 12, 2024, Baowu Chairman Hu Wangming met with visiting Rio Tinto Chairman Bao Damin and his delegation at Baowu Building. Both sides exchanged views on topics such as further enhancing strategic partnership, expanding and deepening cooperation in multiple fields.

In June 2023, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on climate change cooperation projects. In June 2024, the first batch of iron ore for the Xipo project, a joint venture between Baowu and Rio Tinto, was successfully shipped. Meanwhile, with the joint efforts of Baowu, Rio Tinto, and all parties involved, the Simandou project completed its delivery in June this year and entered a new stage of cooperative development.

Hu Wangming expressed his hope to further strengthen strategic partnerships in various aspects such as ore procurement, green furnace materials, and mining project investment in the future, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
