Libreville, August 9, 2024 (AGP) - On Friday, August 9, the Minister of Mines of Gabon, Gilles Nembe, met in his cabinet a delegation of the Chinese Northern Mining Consortium, led by the Project Manager for Development and Resources, Mr. Zhang Yunxuan. The Northern Mining Group expressed its interest in the value of the underground geological resources of Gabon, especially the strategic substances of gold and copper, which are distributed in several sedimentary basins on the national territory.

In this regard, the Minister of Mines stressed that Gabon needs to be open to all investors as part of its economic diversification and that in this regard, the interest aroused by Gabon in the Northern Mining Consortium bodes well for further cooperation and negotiations between the two parties in the future. It is believed that Gabon can only benefit it, and Gabon has a strong mining potential that is waiting to be developed.

Gilles Nembe assured that the Government and the Ministry of Mines are ready to support them. This expected cooperation will create jobs and promote the development of local communities.

Government officials stressed that if the study phase yields positive conclusions, the China North Mining Consortium will ensure compliance with Gabonese laws, especially the Labor Law and environmental laws and regulations, especially the management of cyanide, which is strictly prohibited in Gabon.

The Minister of Mines also made it clear that the gold produced must be 100% processed in Gabon, without any deviation, and hoped that all localities would comply.

As mentioned above, the Gabonese government supports the potential investment of the China North Mining Consortium, but the premise is that it must comply with local laws, respect the environment, and meet specific gold processing requirements. ‌These conditions show that the government pays attention to protecting workers' rights and environmental sustainability while promoting economic development.(This article is from the official website of Seetao: www.seetao.com.
