On August 27, 2024, Dongtou District held a grand ceremony for the commencement and commissioning of key transportation projects such as the Dongtou branch line of Yongguan Expressway, actively responding to the national transportation power strategy and the call for provincial high-level transportation construction, officially opening the prelude to accelerating transportation construction and building a transportation pattern, aiming to accelerate the construction of a national comprehensive transportation hub, and lay a solid transportation cornerstone for Wenzhou to sprint to the goal of double thousand cities and stabilize the third pole status of the province.

Zhang Zhenfeng, Vice Governor and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, came to the scene and announced the official launch of the project. Zhang Wenjie, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, and Xia Bingrong, Senior Official of the Provincial Department of Transportation, delivered speeches respectively, emphasizing the importance and far-reaching significance of the action. A number of city leaders also attended the event to witness this historic moment.

In recent years, with the implementation of a series of major projects, Wenzhou has achieved remarkable results in transportation construction, leading the province's transportation investment list for six consecutive years. In the first seven months of 2024, Wenzhou's total transportation investment has reached nearly 37 billion yuan, ranking second in the province. The 20 transportation projects unveiled this time, with a total investment of up to 50.1 billion yuan, covering highways, ports, national and provincial highways, rural roads and public transport hubs and other fields, marking Wenzhou has taken a solid step towards a high-level transportation city.

With a total investment of 7.85 billion yuan and a total length of about 22.2 kilometers, the newly started Yongguan Expressway Dongtou Branch Line Project will connect Longwan District and Dongtou District across the sea area, becoming the second external traffic artery in Dongtou District. The implementation of this project is of immeasurable value for optimizing the transportation network of Dongtou District, improving the logistics efficiency of Zhuangyuanao Port District, helping Wenzhou build a world-class strong port Jinnan Wing, accelerating the integration of Dongtou and the main urban area, and building a unique maritime garden city.

Before the ceremony, Secretary Zhang Zhenfeng inspected the project display board in detail and listened to the progress report of the city's major transportation projects. He stressed that transportation is the cornerstone of Wenzhou to achieve the province's third pole goal and build a regional central city, and required the whole city to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on transportation development, focus on building a national comprehensive transportation hub, deepen the four-port linkage strategy, accelerate the construction of Jinliwen open channel, go all out to promote major transportation projects, and inject strong impetus into Wenzhou's high-quality development.
