Recently, in the Salalah Free Trade Zone in Dhofar Province, Oman, a major project jointly undertaken by a consortium formed by Beijing Oil Engineering Company, Hejian International and China Communications Construction: Oman OQ Strategic Oil Depot Project, officially kicked off the construction. As a key part of Oman's national strategic plan, the project aims to ensure a stable and worry-free energy supply in the event of an emergency by enhancing energy storage capacity and strengthening the national energy safety net.

The project spans Salalah and Musandam in Oman, where the construction of the Salalah oil depot will add enough oil storage capacity to support the strategic demand for 30 days, and the construction of a direct oil pipeline from the Salalah terminal to the oil depot to ensure the smooth flow of oil products. In Musandam, a similarly sized oil depot will be built as a central hub for strategic fuel storage and distribution, and the project will also include the installation of advanced single-pontoon moorings, end-of-pipe manifolds and the laying of two key offshore pipelines.

The launch of Oman's OQ Strategic Oil Depot Project in Salalah marks an important step forward for Oman in building a solid energy backing, which not only greatly enhances the country's energy reserve strength, but also closely aligns with Oman's Vision 2040 for the development of energy strategy. In the future, these depots will play a key role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to Oman and meet the urgent needs of the country's energy security.
