At 9 a.m. on September 6, 2024, the G9505 EMU train, which marks the official operation of the Hangzhou-Yiwu-Wenzhou high-speed railway, slowly departed from Hangzhou West Railway Station and galloped towards Wenzhou North Railway Station, laying an efficient and convenient high-speed railway channel between Hangzhou and Wenzhou, and further enriching the Yangtze River Delta transportation network on the track.

Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway, a modern railway with a total length of about 276 kilometers and a design speed of up to 350 kilometers per hour, starts from Hangzhou Tonglu East Railway Station, passes through Jinhua City and Taizhou City, and finally arrives at Wenzhou North Railway Station, and extends to Wenzhou South Railway Station through Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, building a fast channel through southeast Zhejiang.

Along the way, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway has carefully laid out 9 stations, including Tonglu East, Pujiang, Yiwu, Hengdian, Pan'an, Xianju, Nanxijiang, Wenzhou North and Wenzhou South, including 5 new stations and 4 reconstruction and expansion stations, which has greatly improved the convenience and accessibility of regional transportation, especially for the first time in Pujiang, Dongyang, Pan'an, Xianju and other mountainous counties and cities in southern Zhejiang.

In the early days of operation, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway has demonstrated its ability to operate efficiently, with up to 38 EMU trains shuttling through it every day, shortening the travel time from Hangzhou west to Yiwu and Wenzhou north to the fastest 34 minutes and 87 minutes respectively, greatly shortening the time and space distance between cities. In the future, with the continuous change of market demand, the railway department will also flexibly adjust the train operation plan to better serve the people along the line.

The Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway is not only a traffic artery, but also a poetry and painting corridor connecting the rich tourism resources along the line. From the magnificence of the tide of the Qianjiang River to the beauty of the Oujiang landscape, from the profundity of the Liangzhu culture to the mystery of the ruins of the mountain, and then to the distant echo of Xianhua Mountain and the immortal residence, the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway makes these beautiful scenery no longer far away, bringing a feast for the eyes and souls of passengers.

In the face of the complex topography and landform along the line and the bridge-tunnel ratio of up to 94.5%, the builders of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway have overcome many difficulties, adhered to the concept of green construction, and successfully erected 117 bridges and 81 tunnels through scientific and technological innovation and fine management, realizing the harmonious coexistence of railway construction and ecological environment.

As an important part of the Yangtze River Delta intercity railway network, the opening of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway not only strengthens the connection between the three major metropolitan areas of Hangzhou, Jinyi and Wenzhou, but also becomes an important channel for the Yangtze River Delta region to connect the economic zone on the west bank of the strait, which is of far-reaching strategic significance for promoting regional economic development and strengthening internal and external economic ties.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
