Recently, the 7th China-Indonesia Energy Forum was held, bringing together about 200 elites from China and India in the energy field, including government officials, representatives of the financial community, energy company executives and experts and scholars from research institutions. The event aims to deepen cooperation and exchanges between the two countries in the field of energy.
The forum was jointly unveiled by Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration, and Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mines Bahlir · Rahadaliya and delivered keynote speeches. Mr. Zhang Jianhua emphasized that China's Belt and Road Initiative is highly compatible with Indonesia's global maritime fulcrum strategy, and the two countries have their own advantages and strong complementarity in terms of energy resources and production capacity, and have built a model of all-round energy cooperation. In the face of profound changes in the global energy landscape, strengthening China-Indonesia energy cooperation plays an irreplaceable role in improving the stability of energy supply, promoting sustainable economic growth of the two countries, promoting green development and global energy transition. He called on the two sides to continue to consolidate the foundation of traditional energy cooperation, and at the same time actively explore cooperation opportunities in the field of renewable energy and new energy technologies, and work together to promote the optimization and development of the global energy governance system, so as to bring a more prosperous future to the people of the two countries.
Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mines Rahadaliya pointed out that the global energy industry is accelerating the transformation to a clean and low-carbon direction, and Indonesia has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, and plans to achieve leapfrog development in clean energy fields such as gas, hydropower, photovoltaic and wind power. He stressed that Indonesia attaches great importance to the introduction of advanced clean energy technologies to support its energy transition strategy. At the same time, he spoke highly of the long-term cooperation between China and Indonesia in the field of energy, and expressed his expectation for deepening cooperation with China in the field of clean and low-carbon energy in the future.
The forum was rich in content, focusing on three major sectors: oil and gas and coal, power and renewable energy, and financing mechanisms. The participants expressed their views on the current situation, challenges and opportunities of cooperation in their respective fields, and jointly discussed new directions for future cooperation.
Since its inception in 2002, the China-Indonesia Energy Forum has been moving forward steadily with the care and support of the senior level of the two governments, and has become an important platform to promote energy policy dialogue and promote cooperation in energy projects between the two countries. The sixth edition of the Forum was successfully held in Beijing in 2019, and the Bali meeting marks a new starting point for energy cooperation between the two sides.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
