Serbia: NIS signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sinopec

Serbia's oil and gas giant Naftna Industrija Srbije, a subsidiary of Russia's Gazprom, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with its Science and Technology Center and Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd., part of Sinopec, the world's leading oil and gas giant. The partnership aims to promote in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the fields of green energy and cutting-edge technologies such as carbon capture, utilization and storage.

The MoU coincides with the visit of the Chinese delegation and signifies the determination of the two companies to establish scientific and technological partnerships in key areas such as renewable energy, CCUS technology, low-carbon hydrogen, and geothermal and solar energy development. Both parties shared a shared vision to leverage cutting-edge technology to transform the energy sector to a more sustainable level, accelerate decarbonization, and strengthen environmental protection.

The specific direction of the cooperation focuses on clean energy fields such as hydrogen energy, geothermal energy and solar energy, aiming to optimize and upgrade the energy structure through technological innovation. During the visit, the two sides discussed in depth the specific modalities of cooperation, in particular on potential carbon capture projects and the feasibility of implementing blue hydrogen production at the Pančevo refinery in Serbia.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum of cooperation was held in Belgrade and was jointly completed by Andrei · Shoshen, Vice President and Director of the Exploration and Production Department of NIS, Leonid · Sturlov, CEO of NTC, and Zhang Jien, Chief Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Expert of Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Construction Corporation. The event also attracted the participation of Kirill Tyurdenev, CEO of NIS, Xi Zhiguo, General Manager of Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Construction Company, Sun Yenan, representative of Sinopec Group, Vladimir Gagić, Director of Processing Department of NIS, and a number of senior representatives from other subsidiaries of Sinopec, highlighting the importance and wide influence of this cooperation.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
