On February 1, 2025, the opening ceremony of the Valevo Expressway project in Serbia, constructed by China Shandong Expressway Group, marked the official opening of the main line of the project. Serbian Prime Minister Vu č evi ć, Minister of Public Investment Dalko Gli š i ć, and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Vucevic stated that the Valevo Expressway is a road full of hope, commitment, solutions, and victory. Its opening ensures that Valevo and the entire Kolubara region are no longer in a state of traffic closure, injecting new vitality into local development.
Glisic also emphasized the importance of the Valevo Expressway project for the overall development of the Kolubara region. He stated that this expressway will bring more investment projects, increase the income level of local residents, and bring new opportunities for regional development.
Ambassador Li Ming expressed his appreciation for the hard work of Chinese enterprises in his speech. He pointed out that there are a total of 20 bridges along the Valevo Expressway project, and Chinese companies have overcome numerous difficulties and completed the project construction with high quality according to the contract schedule. Li Ming believes that after the full line of the project is opened, it will create favorable conditions for economic development and attracting investment in various places along the way. He hopes that in the future, both sides can jointly build more such 'paths to prosperity'.
The Valevo Expressway has a total length of 18.3 kilometers and is a two-way four lane road with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
