Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently announced the official launch of the international bidding for the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum photovoltaic power plant. The plan for this phase is to build a photovoltaic power generation capacity of 1600 megawatts and equip it with a 1000 megawatt battery energy storage system, with a storage time of 6 hours and a total storage capacity of 6000 megawatt hours. The project is expected to be put into operation in stages between 2027 and 2029.

Mohammed Photovoltaic Power Station is one of the largest single photovoltaic power stations in the world, developed using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. After the completion of the seventh phase project, the total installed capacity of the photovoltaic power station will increase from 5000 megawatts to 7260 megawatts, and the proportion of clean energy in Dubai's energy structure will increase from 27% to 34%. It is expected that the annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions will increase from 6.5 million tons to 8 million tons.

This project is the core project of Dubai's Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai's Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, with the goal of achieving 100% of energy production from clean energy by 2050. DEWA has attracted a large amount of international investment through the IPP model, promoting Dubai's green economy development. The seventh phase of development will continue to provide opportunities for international developers to collaborate and promote innovation and application of renewable energy technologies worldwide.

With the advancement of the project, Dubai is expected to play a greater leading role in the global sustainable development field, providing new opportunities for the development of renewable energy worldwide.(This article is from the official website of Jian Dao www.seetao.com.
