On May 19 local time, the King Abdullah Port project in Saudi Arabia, constructed by Shandong Electric Power Construction (SEPCO), achieved a major milestone. Both sides A and B of the dock gate for Dry Dock No. 5 successfully passed the leakage volume tests during high and low tides, marking the complete success of the installation and acceptance of all dry dock gates for the project.

As a key component of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030," the King Abdullah Port project undertakes important tasks such as the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of ships and drilling platforms, as well as the inspection and manufacturing of super tankers. Among them, Dry Docks No. 4 and No. 5 are the "heart" of ship construction, maintenance, and repair, with a single water filling and draining volume reaching the million-ton level. The floating box-type dock gates used in the project are veritable marine giants, measuring 76.5 meters in length, 6 meters in width, and 12.5 meters in height, and weighing over 2,600 tons. The symmetrically designed A and B sides are both equipped with sealing rubber, allowing flexible use of either side. It is worth noting that the sealing form adopts a rarely seen "small ear type" internationally, with a sealing height of only 10mm. Compared with the common "Ω"-shaped sealing rubber, the construction precision requirements are almost stringent: the axial deviation of the dock gate's sealing steel surface and rubber must be controlled within ±1mm per 100 meters, and the flatness error must not exceed ±0.5mm per 3 meters. The SEPCO team successfully tackled this technical challenge with its superb skills.

With the successful completion of the dry dock gate installation, all key technical nodes of the marine engineering for the King Abdullah Port project have been achieved. Currently, the EPC progress of the project has reached 96.76%. In the future, it will become the world's largest ship lift system, have the longest wharf, and rank among the top in the world in joint lifting capacity,is expected to become the world's largest "super shipyard". The completion of this project is not only a model of China-Saudi cooperation but will also play an important role in promoting Saudi Arabia's economic diversification, increasing gross domestic product, enhancing foreign trade competitiveness, strengthening industrial synergy, and creating a large number of employment opportunities.(This article is from the official website of Seetao.com, www.seetao.com.
