On May 18, among the green mountains and green waters of Ya'an, western Sichuan, there was a fantasy park with the theme of national treasure pandas accelerating its formation. As the first area of China's 1869 Chinese giant panda ecological world, the "Fat Planet" project has attracted much attention since its launch, covering an area of 84.73 acres, and is committed to building an "important destination for giant panda cultural tourism in the world", with a unique "panda + amusement" model, injecting new vitality into the cultural tourism industry in western Sichuan.
Walking into the project site in the northern suburbs of Yucheng District, Ya'an City, what catches your eye is a hot construction scene. More than 20 power amusement facilities such as merry-go-rounds, self-controlled aircraft, pendulums, and corsair have been installed, and the technical team is carrying out millimeter-level precision debugging; In the non-powered area, workers are assembling children's devices such as slides and climbing nets; The pouring of the second floor of the Grand Malaysia Theatre is also in full swing.
According to the person in charge of the project, the overall project progress has reached 75%, the basement and the main structure have been fully completed, the installation of power equipment has been completed by 70%, the installation of non-power equipment has been completed by 20%, and the construction progress of the total ping has exceeded 80%, which is expected to be officially opened to the public on October 1, 2025.
The design concept of "Fat Planet" breaks through the limitations of traditional theme parks, and perfectly integrates giant panda elements with modern amusement facilities. In terms of architectural form, the service supporting building adopts a streamlined design, which is a metaphor for the rounded and lovely body characteristics of the panda; In terms of scene creation, through theme partitions such as "Bamboo Forest Secret Land" and "Panda Tribe", the natural habitat environment of giant pandas is vividly restored. In particular, the project innovatively uses AR technology to develop an interactive game called "Finding the Hidden Panda", allowing visitors to deeply experience the charm of panda culture during the game.
The project plans four functional areas: a powered amusement area, a non-powered park, a Malaysian theater and a themed commercial block. The power play area is dominated by exciting projects such as large pendulums and pirate ships, among which the large pendulums are specially designed with panda-shaped cockpits; The non-powered park is aimed at children aged 3-12 years old, with safe and interesting facilities such as bamboo pole climbing nets and slide combinations; The Grand Malaysia Theatre will stage 3 customized panda-themed acrobatic shows every day; The commercial block brings together characteristic formats such as Panda Coffee Workshop and Intangible Cultural Heritage Store, forming a complete closed loop of consumption.
After the completion of the project, it will form a linkage with existing resources such as Bifeng Gorge and Giant Panda Base to build a global cultural tourism ecosystem of "ecological tourism + literary and artistic entertainment + industrial derivation", and provide strong support for Ya'an to build an "important destination for giant panda cultural tourism in the world". This new landmark of cultural tourism that integrates panda culture, modern amusement and technological experience is bound to become another phenomenal cultural tourism project in Sichuan after the completion of the project!(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
