From October 25th to 27th, 22 Northwest Normal University students from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and other countries visited Dunhuang, riding camels on Mingsha Mountain, painting murals at Mogao Academy, and exploring the Yadan Geopark, immersing themselves in the culture of the Silk Road.
Kazakhstani student Wang Xiaofang and her brother Ang Lee traveled to Dunhuang together, holding a "customs clearance document" to cross the desert and Gobi at Yangguan Scenic Area, and experiencing the painting of rebounding pipa murals at Mogao Academy. "Grandma is Chinese. This time, she sketched the lines and flew into the sky, which made her understanding of Chinese culture more three-dimensional." Wang Xiaofang said that she planned to become a tour guide, telling more people about the cultural differences and similarities between the two countries. Pakistani student Wang Hai played traditional instruments and sang with his peers during the event. He discovered a connection between the pipa in Dunhuang murals and Pakistani music culture, and "wanted to make friends with Chinese friends who can play the pipa".
During the event, international students used their cameras to record their observations of the Yadan landform, beacon towers, and other historical sites, and shared them globally through social media. The mural from over 1000 years ago can still be seen today, it's so shocking! "Exclaimed Ang Lee. This activity focused on "Generation Z" Central Asian students, and promoted the spread of Dunhuang culture among the youth along the the Belt and Road with immersive experience, so that the Silk Road civilization can go to the world in a more vivid way.
