On June 10, the Longdong-Shandong ± 800 kV UHV DC project of the State Grid Corporation of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Longdong-Shandong Project") was completed and put into operation, marking the completion and operation of China's first large-scale comprehensive energy base delivery project of "integration of wind, solar, fire and storage", realizing the optimal allocation of energy resources across regions, alleviating the contradiction between energy shortage in North China and resource enrichment in the west, and is of great significance for promoting energy transformation and helping regional coordinated development.
Zhang Zhigang, chairman and party secretary of the State Grid Corporation, said that the Longdong-Shandong project is another west-to-east energy transmission artery in China, and the project will strongly support the construction of the "Shagehuang" base and the large-scale development and utilization of new energy, effectively serve the high-quality development of Shandong and Gansu provinces and the Yellow River Basin, and effectively promote the upgrading of electrical equipment manufacturing and industrial renewal. It plays an important role in driving China's equipment to move towards high-end and building a modern power industry system.
The Longdong-Shandong project starts from Qingyang converter station in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, passes through Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei, and ends at Dongping converter station in Tai'an City, Shandong Province, using the "double 800" UHVDC transmission technology with a rated voltage of ± of 800 thousand volts and a rated capacity of 8 million kilowatts, with a transmission distance of 915 kilometers and a total investment of 20.2 billion yuan. It is not only the delivery project of China's first large-scale comprehensive energy base of "integration of wind, solar, fire and storage", but also the first UHVDC project that has been put into operation at one time and full capacity, the first demonstration project to explore and apply the "double 800" UHVDC standardization achievements, and the first demonstration project to apply the national special research achievements to break through the UHV "stuck neck" technology.
The project was approved by the state in February 2023 and construction started in June. In order to actively respond to the multiple challenges of UHV "large-scale centralized construction, high-intensity innovation and research, and high-quality transformation and upgrading", the State Grid Corporation of China has promoted the unconventional construction of UHV projects with the strength of the whole company and the resources of the whole society. After two years of overcoming difficulties and forging ahead, from Longdong Plateau to Qilu Land, a large energy channel that winds for thousands of miles and spans east and west has been created, writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of China's UHV.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
