China Railway's enterprises have successfully won three bid sections of the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Railway in the Kyrgyz Republic, with a total project amount of 5.34 billion yuan, helping the infrastructure connectivity of the the Belt and Road

Project Overview

On June 30, 2025, China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd., China Railway Second Group Co., Ltd., and China Railway Third Group Co., Ltd., subsidiaries of China Railway Group Corporation Limited, jointly won the bid for the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Railway project. The total amount of the bid for the station front works of the entire line, except for the early construction section, reached 5.34 billion yuan. After the completion of this railway, it will significantly improve the transportation efficiency between China and Central Asia, and promote the development of regional economic integration.

The section of the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Railway in the Kyrgyz Republic is located in the Naryn and Jalalabad regions in the southeast of the country. The line starts from the Turgat Mountains on the China Kyrgyzstan border, crosses the Alabuka River after crossing the Mordotao Mountains in Alpa, and then extends westward to the border, with a total length of 304.94 km and a total bridge tunnel length of 117.95 km. The bridge tunnel ratio is 39%, and there are a total of 20 stations.

Details of the winning bid section

This bidding covers multiple sections, among which the winning bidder has been determined for the following three sections:

ZJWZQ-4 section (China Railway Erju Group Co., Ltd.)

Starting and ending mileage: DK0+000 to DK65+418.53

Bid amount: 1653712577 yuan

Project content: Relocation of roads, roadbeds, bridges, tunnels, and track engineering, with a roadbed length of 59.804 km. The bridge engineering includes 10 super large bridges and major bridges (with a total length of 3277 m), as well as the Tuergat Tunnel (3044 m).

ZJWZQ-8 section (China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd.)

Starting and ending mileage: DK182+820 to DK209+405

Bid amount: 1878782558 yuan

Project content: The main focus is on tunnel engineering, with a total length of 20477 meters for 7 tunnels, including the Bozjar Mountain Tunnel, Shamaldeker Tunnel No. 3, etc.

ZJWZQ-9 section (China Railway Third Group Co., Ltd.)

Starting and ending mileage: DK221+729~DK243+293

Bid amount: 1809615638 yuan

Project content: Dense bridges and tunnels, including 7 major and medium bridges (with a total length of 1455 meters), and 6 tunnels (with a total length of 20039 meters), such as Niqike Tunnel 4 and Niqike Tunnel 1.

Project significance

The construction of the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan Railway will open up a new international transportation channel between China, Central Asia, and West Asia, greatly improving the efficiency of trade, logistics, and personnel exchanges among the three countries, and promoting economic development in the areas along the route.
