During his official visit to Mongolia on July 2nd, Murat Nurtrewu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, held talks with Ba Degerse Khan, Minister of Transport of Mongolia. The two sides focused on discussing cooperation in areas such as railway transportation, road transportation, civil aviation, and road infrastructure construction, and emphasized the importance of the geographical connection between the two countries.
The Three Kingdoms Highway Project will significantly shorten transportation distances
During the talks, both sides paid special attention to the Kazakhstan Russia Mongolia highway construction project. After the completion of the project, the road transportation distance between the two countries will be shortened by 800 kilometers, and the bilateral trade volume is expected to increase to 500 million US dollars. At present, the two countries have shown a good development trend in the fields of road and railway freight transportation.
Multi field cooperation supports regional economic development
Both sides also discussed expanding trade scale by increasing exports of Kazakhstan's grains, oilseed crops, and railway locomotives and rolling stock products. Kazakhstan pointed out that the implementation of this project will provide Mongolia with the opportunity to enter the trans Caspian international transportation route and major Eurasian logistics channels through Kazakhstan.
The trilateral meeting and civil aviation cooperation continue to advance
The foreign ministers of the two countries confirmed that they will hold a trilateral transportation ministerial meeting of Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia in China in July this year. In the field of civil aviation, both sides have agreed to expand the direct flight route from Astana, Kazakhstan to Ulaanbaatar, Bayan Olgii Province, Mongolia, in order to further promote economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.
