On July 7, 2025, the 1.3 MW photovoltaic power station project in Dongba Oilfield, jointly developed by Zhenhua Oil Holdings Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China North Industries Co., Ltd., and Iraq Central Oil Company, was officially put into operation. The project is located in the Dongba Oilfield in Iraq, covering an area of 15000 square meters, and is the first large-scale oilfield photovoltaic demonstration project in Iraq.
The project is expected to generate an average annual power of 2400 megawatt hours, which can meet nearly 50% of the oil field's electricity demand during peak periods. By using solar power generation instead of traditional fuel power generation, the project can reduce a large amount of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions annually, significantly reducing oilfield operating costs.
To adapt to the climate characteristics of high temperature and drought in Iraq, the project has adopted multiple innovative technologies: selecting high-temperature resistant TOPCon high-efficiency photovoltaic modules; Equipped with an intelligent temperature control and cooling system; Applying intelligent cleaning robots to improve operation and maintenance efficiency
The project leader of Zhenhua Oil Holdings Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China North Industries, Ltd., stated that the successful implementation of this project provides a demonstration model for optimizing the energy structure of Iraqi oil fields. In the future, both parties will continue to deepen cooperation in the field of renewable energy and promote the landing of more clean energy projects.
