In June 1975, China established formal diplomatic relations with Mozambique. Over the past 50 years, the two countries have firmly supported each other's core interests, and the results of cooperation have benefited the two peoples, writing a good story of China-Mozambique friendship. Traditional friendships endure the ropes. As early as more than 600 years ago, Zheng He sailed to the farthest point of Africa and arrived in the Sofala region of present-day Mozambique, which opened the prelude to people-to-people exchanges between China and Mozambique. 

In the seventies of the last century, Mozambique achieved national independence, but the country's economic foundation was weak and its social development encountered difficulties. Although China was not wealthy at the time, it still reached out to help Mozambique rebuild the country. Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center, Vocational and Technical School, Economic Housing, National Stadium...... A large number of cooperation projects have sprung up. These projects play an important role in Mozambique's agriculture, education, livelihood and infrastructure, benefiting Mozambican people. Practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results.

With the deepening of cooperation between the two countries, bilateral cooperation has covered agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructure, tourism industry and social development. The participation of Chinese enterprises in the exploration, development and production of offshore natural gas in Mozambique has promoted Mozambique's entry into the ranks of LNG exporters, which has become a major highlight of the cooperation between the two countries in the energy field. In particular, the Maputo Bridge, built by Chinese enterprises, stands majestically on Maputo Bay, running through the north and south, and is currently the largest suspension bridge in Africa, and has become a golden business card for the two countries to jointly build the Belt and Road.

Rooted in historical identity, driven by common development, and linked by people-to-people bonds, the friendship between China and Mozambique has become more and more tenacious over the course of half a century, and has become a vivid interpretation of South-South cooperation and a China-Africa community with a shared future.
