Recently, the bidding results for the major transportation infrastructure construction project in Hubei Province - the renovation and expansion project of the Zhengdian to E Xiang section of the Beijing Hong Kong Macau Expressway - have been officially announced. Led by Hubei Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd., a consortium consisting of Hubei Transportation Investment Construction Group Co., Ltd., Hubei Provincial Transportation Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., China Communications First Engineering Group Co., Ltd., China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Hubei Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd., and Zhongnan Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for JGAZETZR-1 section with a bid price of 14.2 billion yuan. China Communications Second Navigation Engineering Co., Ltd. ranks second with the same quotation.
This project is a key project in the comprehensive transportation planning of Hubei Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period. It starts from Laosi Village, Zhengdian Street, Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, passes through Jiangxia District, Xian'an District, and Chibi City to the south, and ends at the border between Hubei and Hunan provinces in Tucheng Village, Xindian Town, Chibi City. It connects with the Hunan section of the Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway, with a total length of 108.9 kilometers and a total investment of approximately 14.2 billion yuan. The project adopts a expansion plan mainly based on double-sided widening, expanding the existing two-way four lane road into a two-way eight lane road, with an overall roadbed width of 42 meters.

The highlights of the project include:
1. The Wuhan section is 33.7 kilometers long, with an investment of 4.388 billion yuan and 4 interchanges; The Xianning section is 75.2 kilometers long, with an investment of 9.792 billion yuan and 10 interchanges;
2. 57 new bridges with a total length of 16503 meters will be built along the entire line; Set up 2 hub interchanges and generally 9 interchanges;
3. 3 supporting service areas and 1 parking area; New connection line of 1.904 kilometers.
After the completion of this project, it will significantly improve the traffic capacity and service level of the Hubei section of the Beijing Hong Kong Macao Expressway, effectively alleviate the traffic pressure on existing sections, further smooth the north-south transportation artery of China, and promote the interconnection between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. At the same time, the project will drive the economic and social development of the Wuhan urban agglomeration and Xianning region, providing strong support for the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system in Hubei Province.
