On August 9, Saudi Arabia's Khairal Province ushered in an important moment - the R5-MAS and AHK2 photovoltaic projects undertaken by China Power Construction Group officially broke ground. The two projects have a total installed capacity of 1,750 megawatts, marking the substantive construction stage of Saudi Arabia's fifth round of renewable energy plans.
As a benchmark clean energy project in the Middle East, the R5-MAS (1250 MW) and AHK2 (500 MW) photovoltaic power plants are located in the provinces of Haile and Medina, respectively. The project adopts the world's leading photovoltaic technology, covering the whole industry chain from design to operation and maintenance. In particular, this is the first strategic cooperation between PowerChina, and EDF, a French power company, in the high-end market in the Middle East.

When completed, the project is expected to generate 4.4 billion kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to providing clean electricity to 550,000 Saudi households. In terms of environmental benefits, it can reduce CO2 emissions by 2.88 million tons per year, which is equivalent to the emission reduction effect of planting about 48 million trees. This will not only significantly increase the share of renewable energy in Saudi Arabia, but also a key step in achieving Saudi Arabia's energy transition goals of Vision 2030.
The relevant person in charge of PowerChina said that the implementation of the project is an important milestone in the company's "double seas" strategy, demonstrating the core competitiveness of the company in the international new energy market. Through cooperation with top international energy companies, PowerChina will further consolidate its leading position in the field of global clean energy construction.
The successful start of this project not only reflects the technical strength of Chinese enterprises in the field of new energy, but also makes a new breakthrough in energy cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia, setting a new model for international energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.(This article is from the official website of Jiandao www.seetao.com it must not be reprinted without permission, otherwise it will be investigated, please indicate the reprint of Jiandao.com + original link) See the Middle East column editor/Gao Xue
