The 1600 MW combined cycle power plant project of Syr Darya II in Uzbekistan, constructed by Harbin Electric Power Group International Company, has made significant progress. At 3:22 pm local time on August 22nd, the reverse power transmission work of the main transformer of the No.1 gas turbine in the project was successfully completed, marking the comprehensive commissioning stage of the largest under construction combined cycle power station in Central Asia, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent unit start-up and grid connected power generation.

As a key project of production capacity cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, the Syr Darya II power station project is of great significance in promoting Uzbekistan's energy transformation and sustainable development. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation is expected to reach about 12 billion kilowatt hours, which can not only meet the electricity demand of millions of households in the local area, but also greatly improve the stability of regional power supply, promote the popularization of clean energy, and help Uzbekistan achieve energy structure optimization and industrial upgrading.

This reverse power transmission is a key link in the transition of the project from the construction phase to the commissioning and power generation phase, directly related to the live commissioning and safe operation of the subsequent core equipment of the unit. To ensure successful power transmission, the Harbin Electric Power project team actively collaborated with the owner and Uzbekistan State Grid Corporation, strictly followed international standards, and successfully completed various acceptance and approval processes. During the implementation of power transmission, all participating units unified command, closely cooperated, fully implemented safety measures, strictly followed operating procedures, and ultimately ensured a successful power transmission.

The smooth progress of this project not only demonstrates the technical strength and contractual capabilities of Chinese enterprises in the field of overseas power engineering construction, but also sets a new example for deepening cooperation between China and Ukraine in the energy sector. As the project enters the comprehensive commissioning phase, the Syr Darya II power station is expected to be put into commercial operation by the end of 2024, becoming an important pillar of Uzbekistan's energy system.
