Recently, Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania, is undergoing a major upgrade in its transportation infrastructure, and the construction of the new Yanguwani Bridge will begin. This bridge, constructed by China Communications Construction Corporation, was awarded the contract by the Tanzania National Highway Authority and is expected to be completed in 24 months.

Dar es Salaam, as the largest city in East Africa, has a population of over 7 million and a continuously increasing number of vehicles. The existing infrastructure is unable to meet the growing demand for transportation, and congestion and delays have become the norm. The construction of Yanguwani Bridge will be a key link in improving this situation.
The location of the new bridge is of great significance. It will cross the Morogoro Highway through the Yanguwani floodplain, which is often hit by floods during the rainy season, seriously affecting the traffic of this busy route. Previously, the existing bridge was only 47 meters long with limited clearance, making it highly susceptible to flooding during the rainy season. Drivers had to detour for long periods of time around alternative routes that could be congested.

The newly built Yanguwani Bridge has many highlights. It reaches a height of 15.5 meters and is equipped with a 700 meter approach road, which can tightly connect Magomini with the fire station. This bridge is an important component of the broader Msinbazi Valley development project, which has received $200 million in funding support from the World Bank.
For Dar es Salaam, the construction of the Yanguwani Bridge and its related projects holds profound significance. After the completion of the new bridge with two lanes in both directions, it will significantly improve the city's traffic flow, effectively alleviate congestion, and make citizens' travel more convenient and efficient. This will not only improve the quality of life for residents, but also inject new vitality into the city's economic development, helping Dar es Salaam play a greater role in regional development. With the steady progress of various projects, this East African metropolis is taking big strides towards a more prosperous and livable future. Editor/Cheng Liting
