Recently, Nigerian officials have received news that two important transportation infrastructure projects have been approved, and a budget of 322 million US dollars has been successfully approved by the Federal Executive Committee. Currently, active discussions are underway with banks regarding funding matters.

The two approved projects this time focus on upgrading the transportation arteries in the northern part of the country and optimizing the transportation hubs in the southwest.

The important project in the north is the upgrade project of the Kano Katsina Expressway. This 152 kilometer highway will be constructed in three parts. Among them, the first section is 74 kilometers long and was originally expected to cost 15.7 million US dollars, but now the estimated cost has risen significantly to 44.4 million US dollars; The second section is 79.5 kilometers long and the estimated cost has increased from 30 million US dollars to 43.15 million US dollars. The increase in costs may reflect a more comprehensive and in-depth consideration of factors such as engineering quality and construction difficulty in the planning process of the project, aiming to create a more high-quality and durable transportation artery to better meet the growing transportation demand in the northern region and promote economic and personnel exchanges between regions.

The important project in the southwest is the construction of the Lagos New Carter Bridge. Lagos, as the economic center of Nigeria, has extremely serious traffic congestion problems, and is even known as one of the cities with the most severe traffic delays in the world. The construction of the New Carter Bridge is expected to cost $234 million, with a clear goal of alleviating traffic pressure and improving traffic conditions in the city. After the completion of the bridge, it will effectively divert some traffic flow, improve traffic operation efficiency, bring great convenience to citizens' travel and urban logistics transportation, and further promote the economic and social development of Lagos.

The advancement of these two transportation infrastructure projects not only reflects the determination of the Nigerian government to improve domestic transportation conditions and promote economic development, but also lays a solid foundation for improving people's quality of life and enhancing urban competitiveness.
